Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Certified Direct-Entry Midwife
When I was a child, I knew I wanted to help people when I grew up.I wasn’t quite sure how until I learned about naturopathic medicine.Growing up in a standard American household, I knew only about conventional medicine. While researching my own health issues I came across a book written by a Naturopath. The principles resonated with me and led me study at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.
While in school I attended my first home birth.I was awed by the experience and continued assisting my mentor at births. After graduation in 1999, I completed and internship and subsequently worked as a staff midwife at Casa de Nacimiento in El Paso, TX.
In 2003 I moved to Juneau for the opportunity to work at the Juneau Family Birth Center. In 2006 I felt it was time to return to my roots in home birth and expand my naturopathic practice and started Inside Passage Midwifery and Natural Medicine.
Since that first birth I assisted in 1997, I’ve attended over 1,000 births. It still feels like a miracle every time.I love supporting families through pregnancy and birth. And I love that I can continue caring for families and watching the babies grow in my naturopathic practice.
I am very passionate about naturopathic medicine and midwifery.I am grateful to provide an option for health care in this wonderful community in Juneau. In addition to my work, I enjoy spending time with my awesome son and our pets, exploring the outdoors and traveling.
